"Chef Chris Shepherd has opened a 14-seat, diner-style burger joint at 2520 Airline Drive in the Houston Farmers Market that centers on his double meat, double cheese burger served with lettuce, pickles and tomato on a potato bun—a twist on Shepherd’s Cease and Desist burger from Hay Merchant. The beef is sourced from longtime Underbelly Hospitality supplier 44 Farms and from R-C Ranch’s butcher shop next door at the market. The menu also features milkshakes, a veggie burger, a bacon sausage served like a hot dog, a black pepper buttermilk chicken sandwich modeled on the Hay Merchant version, and “sidewinder” fries dusted in ranch powder. The space mimics a classic diner with green-and-white tile, Shepherd’s vintage burger memorabilia, and a pick-up window for eating outside in the market’s al fresco dining area; it’s open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with pickup or delivery via the website." - Adele Chapin
