"After 28 years on St-Denis, La Pizzaiolle has closed its Plateau location and the iconic metallic, retro 1952 diner that housed it is now for sale. I read the pizzeria’s Facebook post in which owner Daniel Noiseux said that current circumstances and changes to St-Denis street — widely linked to the Réseau express vélo (REV) bike lanes that merchants say have reduced parking for customers and delivery trucks — made the restaurant no longer viable at this location. Noiseux imported the diner from Boston in 1991, had it restored and expanded to accommodate La Pizzaiolle, and its Formica‑tabled interior has been renovated over the years; he hopes to avoid demolition, will offer technical support to any future buyer to move the structure, and has set a $250,000 price tag. The chain’s two other La Pizzaiolle locations, in Old Montreal and the Town of Mount Royal, are temporarily closed for COVID-19-related reasons." - Valerie Silva
