"Mega-mega-popular Austin micro-roastery and coffee truck Desnudo Coffee is expanding with a second location this summer. The new trailer will be found in downtown Austin in front of food hall Fareground’s street-level restaurant Y Comida at Ellis at 111 Congress Avenue starting on Thursday, August 22. At the new trailer, expect Desnudo’s thoughtful espresso, espresso drinks, and hella fun lattes. The latter includes the signature brown sugar miso, along with the shoyu butterscotch and the white vanilla miso. Typically, there are more seasonal weekend lattes too, such as the Boggy Berry or the Lili Peach. Co-owners and brothers Sergio Trujillo and Juan Trujillo started Desnudo in 2021, where they work directly with micro-lot coffee farms in Colombia, emphasizing education and sustainable practices to create packaged coffee beans. The name reflects that philosophy — Spanish for “naked.” Per the brothers via email: “It represents the constant search for the best products in its pure, naked form,” which applies to the actual ingredients as well as the farmers and families growing everything. The Trujillos opened Desnudo’s coffee truck in April 2022 in the same East Austin lot as Veracruz All Natural. The truck’s drink creations have become so popular that there are often lines during weekends. Desnudo’s downtown truck is pegged as a temporary location for now. It’ll run through the end of December, much like Fareground’s other new temporary restaurant the Ellis space, Y Comida (which is opening on Friday, August 23). The brothers write that they are “testing” the location and if the trailer works for them and for Fareground and that everyone is “happy at the end of the year, we can extend the lease.” Desnudo’s downtown hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and then from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday." - Nadia Chaudhury
