"Operating out of a tiny, 275-square-foot storefront on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, the acclaimed Harlem small-plates destination co-owned by chef Darryl Burnette and his wife Melissa has struggled under the ban on indoor dining and safety requirements, but the couple has been successfully experimenting with cafe-style breakfast and lunch offerings—bagel sandwiches, coffee, and pastries—from a pop-up. Belle is the more upscale, tasting-menu-focused counterpart to the new cafe, attracting diners willing to spend more on dinner, and will share outdoor seating with the cafe when weather permits. The restaurant is currently paused through January 1, will remain on hold until the cafe next door opens, and is offering a New Year’s Eve to-go dinner that includes breakfast items from the cafe that can be consumed the following day." - Tanay Warerkar
