"Located at 1002 Buchanan Street in the Historic Buchanan Arts District of North Nashville, Minerva Avenue opens Friday, September 7 at 5 p.m. I describe it as an eclectic cocktail bar that positions itself as the 'mix radio station' of bars, playing classics from the ’80s, ’90s, and today. Cocktails, influenced by Nashville mixologist Freddy Schwenk, are all titled after movie lines—for example, the Toy Story nod “To Infinity and Beyond” blends gin, honey, vanilla, and lemon, and a tequila and verdita shot is coined “Bye Felicia.” Food offerings focus on deli sandwiches and gourmet popcorn named after popular ’80s and ’90s songs (including an Old-Fashioned with ham and cheese), alongside alcoholic and non-alcoholic snow cones and cigars for purchase. Founder Robert Higgins Jr. named the bar after his childhood street in St. Louis, and the exterior aims for a home-like feel with a residential fence and a wooden door with a peephole; patrons are asked to use the phone at the door or knock for entry. Minerva Avenue and Make-A-Play Hospitality Group say they have hired heavily from the Buchanan neighborhood and are training staff in the craft cocktail industry; hours will be Tuesday–Friday 5 p.m.–2 a.m., Saturday–Sunday 3 p.m.–2 a.m., closed Monday." - Delia Jo Ramsey
