"I loved Thirsty Whale's doughnuts — drizzled with silky icings, stuffed with custards, or served crackly and glazed — as well as its strikingly creative, colorful cupcakes and custom cakes. Opened in 2018 by Megan and Kyle Baker and Sarah Bignell, the bakery persevered through many hardships (it was broken into days before opening, and the Bakers lost their home and dog in a 2019 fire) and remained a Northside staple until it officially closed on Sunday, December 3.
