"At the center of the controversy is the flagship that debuted in 2007 and became known for Spanish-inspired dishes—pinxtos, tapas, and raciones—and even shared many of its recipes in a popular cookbook. Toro Bravo’s kitchen has been closed, staff laid off, and takeout and delivery suspended, but whether the closure is permanent remains unclear: the Oregonian reported owner Renee Gorham announced the company would be dissolved and the restaurants would not reopen, while Willamette Week quoted Gorham saying she has only suspended service and hasn’t decided if closures are permanent. The turmoil follows founder John Gorham stepping away after a social-media incident in which he threatened a trans woman of color; parts of the Toro Bravo group were subsequently sold off as the business was restructured." - Alex Frane
