Presotea, a Taiwanese Bubble Tea Chain, Is Taking on Montreal | Eater Montreal

"I noticed the Taiwanese bubble tea chain Presotea—which has over 300 locations internationally—making a move on Montreal with two stores: one that opened in Chinatown earlier this month (oddly unmentioned on Presotea’s social media) and a second on St-Mathieu near Concordia University that opened over the weekend. A Presotea representative told me this is just the beginning, with another three to five locations likely in the works; in Canada the brand operates as a franchise with Canadian HQs in British Columbia (west) and Ontario (east). The menu is standardized around the milky, sweet Taiwanese tea format characterized by squishy tapioca pearls and occasional jelly toppings, with a range of tea types, fruit flavors, a few slush drinks and “tea lattes.” It’s also serving the viral “cheese tea,” where a sweet cream-cheese–like dairy cap—resembling a milkshake top—sits on the tea, a look that’s clearly driven Instagram interest." - Tim Forster
