"I checked out the newest debut in Chinatown’s Shanghai Plaza, which has opened its double doors to serve a tea-focused menu prepared in very tall containers. Taking over a prominent ground-floor corner, the compact interior is pink-hued and offers limited patio-style, indoor seating. Food options are minimal — mostly pre-packaged Asian snacks — while the main attractions are teas and slushes: Fresh brew tea ($4.75) can be upgraded with cheese foam for $0.75 and comes in honey jasmine green tea, “Four Season,” oolong and “Black Jade”; milk teas are $4.50 with optional tiramisu foam and include matcha, Hokkaido, taro, and almond; fruit drinks ($4.99) include strawberry cheese, “grapefruit green” and avocado. Early hits among the “Maison Specials” are a taro cake milk drink, “brûlée matcha,” and the brown sugar boba milk. It's open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., closing at midnight on Friday and Saturday." - Bradley Martin
