"On track to become the largest ground-floor tenant at downtown's Neonopolis, Dick's Last Resort is expanding from a 13-year residency at the Excalibur on the Strip and bringing its “Sassy Staff,” live entertainment, and signature “margs & mules” to Fremont Street. Replacing the shuttered Cannabition Museum, the 10,212-square-foot venue will add a 1,070-square-foot outdoor patio on the Neonopolis courtyard, sitting across from the Toy Shack store, next to Banger Brewing, and a short distance from a 6,400-square-foot Denny’s. Famed for its raucous atmosphere and self-described as “wacky, sports bar meets dive bar twist,” the chain has grown to 11 national locations since 1985 and was bought last year by Las Vegas–based Deja Vu Services Inc. The outdoor patio will hold about 70 people, with 13 seats at a snaking bar that stretches inside to add another 48 seats; after passing the hostess stand and merchandise area, 244 seats in the open-plan dining room face a small stage for nightly entertainment (the Big Bang Dueling Pianos, which perform at the Excalibur from 9 p.m. “’til Late!,” are expected to continue downtown). The future menu promises generous pub grub — the over-sized “Macho Nachos,” fried alligator bites, wings, brisket platters, a low country boil with shrimp, mussels, snow crab and Andouille sausage — plus a tongue-in-cheek “Crybaby” vegan burger designed for “sensitive” and “tree-hugger” diners. The restaurant is currently going through the City of Las Vegas approval process and is not expected to debut until early 2021." - Bradley Martin
