"A nearly century-old Silver Lake diner long anchored on Sunset Boulevard is opening a smaller Pasadena outpost inside the former Community Kitchen on E. Washington Boulevard, announced via the restaurant’s Instagram. The original began in 1926 as a 25-seat counter with spinning stool seats and Formica, later expanding into a larger storefront and becoming a prodigious sidewalk brunch contender; weekend morning lines there can sometimes last for hours. The new location is a clear stylistic departure — much smaller and more fast-casual, featuring faux brick, subway tile and industrial metal stools and chairs — and ownership hopes the offshoot will help spread out some of the heavy brunch waits that have marked the original." - Farley Elliott
