"At 1722 W. Division Street in Wicker Park I learned new ownership intends to reopen the Foxtrot location and says it should have more information later this week. Foxtrot ceased operations three months ago when the chain abruptly closed 33 locations across Chicago, Austin, Dallas, and the Washington, D.C. area; the company began as an app focused on liquor delivery and evolved into an upscale bodega known for trendy snacks, an espresso bar, and beer and wine for on-site consumption. The takeover is led by the chain’s founder, Mike LaVitola, who is chairman of the new Foxtrot entity; Further Point Enterprises placed the sole $2.2 million bid on Foxtrot’s Chicago assets at a May auction. Reaction is mixed — consumers are excited to see activity in vacant storefronts, some vendors hope to sell their goods there again while others remain unpaid as bankruptcy plays out, and workers are still pursuing lawsuits for backpay after the sudden shutdown." - Ashok Selvam
