In Case of Emergency, Eat Saigaishoku | Eater

"This Ginza restaurant, which opened in 2021, turns the Izameshi brand’s 65 types of disaster food into hot dishes and also sells the packaged products so diners can recreate the meals at home. The menu leans toward comforting, familiar items — the author considered a koji‑marinated chicken and onions but chose a beef stew served with chunky vegetables, rice, watercress, and a dollop of herb cream cheese (noted as more of a watery gravy than a thick stew, but nonetheless satisfying and potentially very reassuring for a family without electricity or gas). The lunch crowd skews young, reflecting the multigenerational appeal of disaster-preparedness cuisine, and the visit prompted the author to buy several packets to add to a personal emergency stash." - Kenji Hall
