"Eastsiders with a taste for Texas barbecue will be stoked to know that Jack’s BBQ has opened its newest Eastside location at NE 21st and Bel-Red Road in the Crossroads/Overlake borderlands, operating out of the space that previously housed Mayuri Indian Cuisine, which closed in February 2024. Texan pitmaster Jack Timmons, who opened the flagship on Airport Way in 2014, built a following here for smoked chicken, barbecue breakfast tacos, monster beef ribs (Thursdays only!), and a 14-hour hardwood-smoked brisket. Using the low-and-slow method rooted in Central Texas, Jack’s keeps things simple with a salt-and-pepper rub and smokes meats over mesquite, hickory, and post oak, with a note that barbecue sauce is supplied but not required. The menu also leans into Southern favorites that can be hard to find in Seattle—pecan pie and Frito pie—and the Bellevue/Redmond spot will add brunch (chicken-fried steak, brisket on a biscuit, and candied pecan banana pancakes), regular pours featuring Double R Ranch steaks from Okanogan County, and Jack’s smoked orange old-fashioned." - Meg van Huygen
