"I'm intrigued by Casablanca, a spacious new bar in the Bishop Arts District that will open at 200 Bishop Avenue, Suite 113 next week. The latest from Exxir Hospitality (the group behind Paradiso and Botanist), the indoor-outdoor space aims for a vintage ’70s vibe with frozen cocktails and shareable snacks, and it even includes its own “singeasy” complete with private karaoke lounges. Chef Nick Hurry, formerly of Proof + Pantry and now executive chef at Paradiso, will lead the kitchen, promising food inspired by street stalls in southern China and Malaysia, bazaars of Persia, and smaller shared dishes in Northern Africa—sneak peeks show saucy noodle dishes, cardamom-scented lamb skewers, fresh figs showered with pistachios, and steamed dumplings. Beverage director Iluggy Recinos is leaning heavily into tropical cocktails—expect swanky umbrella drinks, frozen piña coladas, and a Moroccan tea service spiked with rum. Casablanca debuts Thursday, October 21, and will be open 5 p.m.–midnight Wednesday and Thursday, 5 p.m.–2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m.–midnight on Sunday." - Amy McCarthy
