"At the Amazon Fresh grocery store at 23rd Avenue South and South Jackson Street in Seattle’s Central District, workers have unionized and declared an independent union called Amazon Workers United after months of organizing; union member Joseph Fink told The Seattle Times the group chose to declare independence without holding a formal vote to speed the process while still relying on National Labor Relations Board protections. They sent management a list of demands including a $25 minimum starting wage, more training to prevent workplace sexual harassment, and the right to wear Black Lives Matter pins to work, and are threatening to strike if those demands are not met in 60 days. The union says it has filed charges three times with the NLRB alleging retaliation for organizing, which Amazon denies." - Jade Yamazaki Stewart
