"I saw Parlor Doughnuts open to huge crowds in Evansville earlier this year, and it will travel cross-country for a second location in early 2020 as part of SALT, downtown Oceanside’s luxury apartment and retail development near the pier. Owner Darrick Hayden said the San Diego move is tied to his wife's roots, and the all-day eatery will expand beyond its sweets to offer acai bowls, toasts, sandwiches, and cookies. Made in small batches, Parlor’s signature flaky, fried croissant-style doughnuts—made famous by cronut king Dominique Ansel—are offered in a wide range of flavor combinations, including French Toast with maple glaze and cinnamon sugar; Campfire with marshmallow glaze, graham cracker, and chocolate chips; and Dreamcicle with orange and vanilla glaze. The shop also makes vegan and gluten-free baked doughnuts as well as a sugar-free variety, and Hayden says they may open more locations in the San Diego area." - Candice Woo
