"A Korea-based restaurant chain randomly added arm wrestling to its Rockville menu this month, staging a battle of the biceps every Wednesday at the brightly lit wing stop. “Rockville Arm-Wrestling Night” drew 25 participants for the first contest on December 11 — “there wasn’t a dry seat in the house” — and, after a successful turnout, is now a recurring event at the 5-year-old store (6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). Out of the chain’s 250 fast-casual locations nationwide, which includes a dozen around the DMV, a rep says this is the first to introduce arm wrestling. A Rockville server, a former national-team arm-wrestler, pitched the idea to management, which signed off after finding a charity component. Anyone can enter by paying a $10 cash-only fee, and all proceeds go to Maryland nonprofit Stepping Stones Shelter to help homeless families. Weekly winners get free fried chicken, “which is actually pretty good here.” Menu highlights include recipes straight from Seoul such as a “Gangnam-style” preparation (peppers and leeks sauteed in a black pepper sauce), sweet cheese-covered “Cheesling,” and spicy galbi." - Emily Venezky
