"Two San Diego craft-beer veterans, Mark and Rebecca Saldivar, are opening a beer garden and restaurant in Poway called The Hop Stop as their first solo project, scheduled to open this spring to serve a still-understaffed beer market; they say they’re aiming for a kid- and pet-friendly, beer-focused eatery. Mark brings nearly 20 years at San Diego Brewing Company and Rebecca has experience at Second Chance Beer Co., Callahan’s, Urge Gastropub, and Abnormal Beer Co. The space is being extensively remodeled with a modern industrial design of metal and wood, and will include a front dining room and bar with a wrap-around patio and roll-up doors that open onto a spacious beer garden. A separate building will house the kitchen, where guests will order appetizers, salads, pizza, and burgers from a walk-up window, and the owners hope to bring versions of The Hop Stop to other local areas in the future." - Candice Woo
