Larry’s Diner to debut in Uptown from Larry’s Bar owners | Eater Chicago

"Tucked away in the lobby of the Lawrence House apartment building without any street-facing signage, Larry’s cocktail bar feels like a rare Uptown oasis for fancy drinks; it opened in 2017 with cocktails from Wade McElroy and Jeff Donahue (who later opened Ludlow Liquor and Big Kids) and is now run by Anne Marineau. Owner Michael Salvatore positions it as an unpretentious neighborhood alternative to fancier, pricier downtown cocktail bars — you don’t have to dress up to go — and he has been using the bar to test food once a week (smash burgers and fries) to shape a diner menu. The bar currently offers a preview menu from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, plans to expand service to Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the coming months, and ultimately hopes to be open all day as staffing and pandemic conditions allow." - Aimee Levitt
