"I learned that an all-organic cafe with a mission to support foster care youth is opening in a renovated 100-year-old house near Lowest Greenville at 5626 Bell Avenue. La La Land Kind Café, founded by 23-year-old Francois Reihani as an extension of his non-profit We Are One Project, will be staffed by foster youth who have turned 18 or are aging out of the system, offering them the opportunity to learn workplace skills while 10 percent of proceeds fund the nonprofit. The 1,500-square-foot interior features white walls, fixtures, and furniture, exposed wood beam ceilings, and pops of yellow, and a backyard with string lights, comfy furniture, and a “Dog Parking” area where dogs can roam while their humans order. The menu is entirely organic, including bacon, egg, and potato empanadas, croissants, and a variety of toasts, and the intense beverage program includes an Amsterdam-sourced espresso machine that took four months to build by hand, a Poursteady pour-over system (the first in DFW and only the second in Texas), espresso-based drinks such as creme brulee and thin mint lattes, reserve teas from East Asia, reserve coffees from Africa and South America, and ceremonial-grade matcha from one of Japan’s oldest family-owned farms. La La Land Kind Café officially opens Monday, March 25 and will operate Monday–Friday 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter
