"Originally a Houston dessert shop and cafe that began in 2018 as Boba & Cream in Asiatown and rebranded in 2019, this concept opened its first Austin location on July 4 at 3801 South Congress Avenue in the St. Edwards neighborhood. It’s best known for Japanese-style soufflé pancakes—thick, tall yet fluffy—offered in variations such as a classic topped with butter, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and honey; a mango version with fruit in sauce, diced mango and ice cream; and a crème brûlée style with a burnt sugar cream topping. Other highlights include layered mille crêpe slices, kakigori (Japanese shaved ice), decadent waffles and croffles (croissant‑waffle hybrids), towering Shibuya (honey) toast served with sweet and savory toppings like shredded cheese, egg yolk crumbs, ice cream and fruit, plus Vietnamese panna cotta, matcha tiramisu and more. The drinks menu is extensive, featuring specialty coffees (including a taro‑sauced “Breaking Dawn,” a Cloudy Affogato with espresso, mango and milk‑tea ice creams, cotton candy and ladyfingers, Vietnamese coffee and frappuccinos), a wide range of hot and cold teas (fruit, floral, milk and cheese‑foam styles), juices, smoothies and boba. The interior is decorated with floral, garden‑style accents, offers indoor seating, and supports online pickup orders." - Nadia Chaudhury
