"I'm excited that Thirty Six Cafe opens tomorrow on Grand Avenue in St. Paul, taking the place of Himalayan Java. Starting Saturday, November 2 it will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will serve a collection of pretty breakfast foods — toasts with various toppings, smoothie bowls, teas, coffee — plus the huge, fluffy Japanese soufflé pancakes that quiver when you jiggle the plate. The room has been given a blushing makeover heavy on floral accents and soft pink furniture, and the new cafe has promised to give away thirty-six soufflé pancakes to its first thirty-six diners.
