So when the casual, counter-service spot Joe Benny’s came along in 2014 with its irreverent social media and irresistible meatballs, it felt like a breath of fresh air. But nine years later, Sicilian American chef and owner Joseph Gardella admitted to his customers that he was burnt out and exhausted. After taking some time off and focusing on his health, Gardello was contacted by Little Italy resident Ben Sudano to open a new spot in the former Germano’s space with a name that references both owners.
