"A Tokyo-based maker of a pricey wagyu beef cutlet sandwich is planning a New York outpost after originally intending to open a butcher shop in San Francisco; the two-year-old company, led by co-owner Hisato Hamada, made headlines for its $180 signature sandwich. The sandwich is made of esteemed (and expensive) Japanese beef, breaded and fried, then served on toasted white bread with a soy-and-vinegar sauce, and the Tokyo location also offers a more modest $45 sandwich using a lesser cut. Details on the New York site are still slim, but it will likely be a splurge because of the high cost of wagyu—though it may not cost as much as $185 to try." - Serena Dai
