"Turning again, North County’s iconic windmill now signals the arrival of a 12,000-square-foot dining and entertainment hub in Carlsbad visible from Interstate 5; I learned owner James Markham transformed the former Danish-style restaurant into a space housing 14 food vendors that mix established restaurants and first permanent ventures from farmers market favorites. The hall, designed by local firm Design X, features arcade games throughout, communal seating areas ranging from a quiet library to a pop-art gallery available for private events, a central cocktail bar with drinks by beverage director Jesse Ross, and spacious outdoor picnic areas that will host yoga, painting classes, live music, line dancing, and pop-up artisan events.
