"A small Anderson, South Carolina pub that converted an underused private dining room into an on-site childcare space during pandemic reopenings, outfitting it cheaply with toys, beanbag chairs, changing tables and paid babysitters. The arrangement, inspected and approved with limits (eight children per sitter per shift and under four hours per child), costs the owner about $300 to set up and roughly $15/hour plus meals to operate; staff agree to fill in when sitters are unavailable.
