"After federal agents raided a Greenwood, South Carolina location of a national fast-food chain, social-media conspiracy theories claimed the restaurant was selling burgers made from human flesh. The store manager, Saif Momin, said a corporate inspector had relayed a complaint that 'human meat' was in a burger, but investigators found the raid was actually related to an inquiry into an unlicensed money-transfer operation—one alleged fraudster reportedly used an unlocked safe in the back of the restaurant to stash cash. A local coroner told reporters there was 'little to no chance' of such cannibalism occurring, the chain's social account stressed it serves '100% beef hamburgers,' and the company is still looking into any connection between the store and the criminal activity.
