"After leaving Wall Street following his father's death and returning to Durham in 2009, the founder opened an Italian-influenced coffee shop that has since evolved into a four-part concept combining a jazz club, restaurant, bar and coffee shop. Built around a 'be you' mentality, the venue emphasizes community, live music and local art (including stage work by Artie Barksdale). The kitchen is known for hearty breakfast fare—most notably the Bebop Breakfast Burrito with seasoned black beans, scrambled farm-fresh eggs and homemade pico de gallo with optional meats—and the beverage program uses Carolina Coffee beans, offering nitro cold brew and specialty drinks such as a Caramello macchiato (caramel and vanilla) and a Mexican-style coffee with cinnamon, nutmeg and dark chocolate." - Katie Toussaint
