"Jonny and Irene Becklund have brought San Francisco sophistication to the backstreets of Bend. Whimsical wallpapers and jewel-colored seating create a classy bohemian ambiance at this Brooks Alley restaurant, with dishes and drinks that consistently surprise and delight. Chef Jonny’s menu features ever-changing dishes that depend on what’s available from local farmers, and Bend’s farmer’s market is just steps from the restaurant’s front door. The prawn dumplings are among the most popular offerings, with ground prawns wrapped in tender dough on a gentle red curry coconut and toasted peanut sauce. The little gem salad with English cucumbers in a feta vinaigrette is a nice palate cleanser between courses. Pair with inventive cocktails like the version of an old fashioned called Growing Older But Not Up or the refreshing Herb Your Enthusiasm with Tanqueray Gin, Genepy, Aquavit, Velvet Falernum, and Chamomile and topped with egg white.
