Chicago’s Essential Taco Restaurants

"El Hongo Mágico (the magic mushroom) puts a green twist on a few traditional Mexican favorites. Making mushrooms their core ingredient, the team’s ability to balance flavors and textures delivers dishes that resonate with vegans and non-vegans alike. The menu features three tacos, each made with handmade tortillas, and each giving the limelight to a different type of mushroom: cremini, marinated in a smoky blend of chile ancho and guajillo; portobello with peppers and onions; and button mushrooms, prepared with crispy potatoes and chile poblano. The taco flight is an opportunity to sample them all. Pair any of these with their agua de jamaica (hibiscus tea) for a perfect match.  Other interesting items on the menu are mushroom pozole and bean tamales.
