"After COVID-19 delays, the doors swung wide open on May 19, officially welcoming Greenville residents to Home Team BBQ in a launch that owner and pitmaster Aaron Siegel called “especially sweet” after nearly four years of work. I found the menu heavy on award-winning smoked meats and treats, including smoked chicken wings, smoked turkey, pulled pork or ribs, smoke-ringed beef brisket, house-made sausage, and a charred burger draped with cheese and crisp bacon, plus two green salads and six homemade barbecue and hot sauces; customers can order a platter to try them all alongside traditional sides like beans, slaw, Brunswick stew, hash and rice, collards, crunchy tater tots, pork cracklin’s, barbecue nachos and creamy mac-n-cheese. The extensive bar menu features the restaurant’s signature frozen cocktail, the Game Changer, and even a frozen Irish coffee, and guests are greeted by the glowing, smiling Home Team hog mascot in a spacious 7,000-square-foot dining room framed by the Blue Ridge Mountain skyline, concert posters, photographs and a mural of the late Colonel Bruce Hampton." - Steve Seguin
