"Taking over a historic liquor store space at 1341 14th Street NW, the final form will honor the original shop that "survived everything from riots to political drama in the nation’s capital for almost 100 years," with pictures of the original liquor store (which moved next door in 2015) and boozy decor throughout the space. “We just thought it was such an iconic location, and we want to be kind of the next chapter of that space,” co-owner Biva Ranjeet told Eater. D.C.’s own Little Miner Taco will supply all the food in the new bar. For now the space will phase through a series of themed pop-ups: a holiday one called Tinsel and Tonic first appeared in December; the cozy, alpine-themed Lodge took over in January; Shamrock Shack will pop up in late February with Irish-themed cocktails and Irish whiskies; next will be cherry blossom–themed Sakura in March and the fairy garden–themed Pixie Hollow in mid-April. After those pop-ups, the plan is to close for a few months to renovate and then reopen in September with a final cocktail menu and decorations that will be more permanent." - Emily Venezky
