"I read on social media that Mile End taqueria Maïs will close its doors by the end of the year; its final day of service will be December 28, and in the lead-up tequila and mezcal will be discounted. Opened in 2012, it served a respectable seven years on the Main, offering classics like carnitas and Baja-style fish tacos alongside creative tacos such as a carrot-almond option. I was relieved to learn that some of the restaurant’s owners are retaining the space on St-Laurent and planning something new, so the storefront won’t become yet another empty, for-rent spot.
