"Part of the Toqué empire and only six months old, Beau Mont has highs and lows: I loved how local produce shines in dishes such as a duck pâté en croûte with lingonberry jam and a “melt-in-your-mouth” Gaspésie bluefish tuna with mushroom dashi, and I found desserts like the pouding chômeur with sweet clover Chantilly and brown sugar sauce exceptional and mandatory; however, there are clear disappointments too — a timid veal tartare and a guinea fowl breast so tough and dry it couldn’t be saved by chanterelles and corn. Overall ingredients often sing individually but the compositions rarely cohere, the industrial-chic dining room feels almost soulless, and the meal left me wanting something more, culminating in a not-bad but not-good two-star verdict." - Tim Forster
