"Returning this Saturday to SloHi, an eccentric dessert shop and entertainment emporium run by Chef Ian Kleinman—who specializes in molecular gastronomy—reopens with a new roster of treats at The Inventing Room Dessert Shop. I note Kleinman still offers liquid-nitrogen molecular desserts, including a Harry Potter–inspired tasting menu option that will feature a butter beer float topped with exploding whipped cream. A Wonka-inspired grab-and-go candy station will include Gobstopper-inspired “Gobblepop” suckers and edible wallpaper modeled on the scene just outside the door of the Inventing Room in the 1971 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory movie. The shop also plans to kick off a monthly themed pop-up dinner called Gobblefunk Dinner for 16. Kleinman makes his own candies, ice creams, and sodas with science-experiment twists, and once back in business the dessert shop plans to be open Thursday through Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m.; the last closure, in November, was attributed to a difficult year for the business." - Susan Stapleton
