"After Clique Hospitality and Naples-born chef Enzo Esposito expanded their New York–inspired restaurant to Red Rock Resort, I found Side Piece serving whole pies and slices with a menu that leans New York- and Sicilian-style: 16-inch and 22-inch cheese, pepperoni, veggie, meat-lovers and their local favorite, the Bianca, plus Sicilian-style pizzas available in cheese or pepperoni. Esposito’s chicken Parmesan pizza, smothered with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, takes center stage, and the menu also includes hot Italian sandwiches and classic calzones. Starters include pizza rolls, garlic knots, mozzarella sticks and a pizza fritta with prosciutto and mozzarella layered on top of fried pizza dough; salads range from a Tuscan salad with greens, pears, blue cheese, toasted walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette to a Caesar tossed with a lemon pepper Caesar dressing and a Caprese with heirloom tomatoes, mozzarella and aged balsamic. Hot sandwiches span the classic Italian, chicken Parmesan, meatball, prosciutto panini and eggplant options. They offer takeout and delivery, including a delivery-only Wednesday deal for a 22-inch New York cheese pie for $10. Side Piece debuted as a counter-service restaurant inside the Palms in March 2019 and, along with the resort, has been closed while new owners decide which venues will return." - Susan Stapleton
