"Topsoil feels like a taste of Travelers Rest, steps off the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Farmer Wendy Lynam grows much of the produce on her 16-acre farm, which chef Adam Cooke uses in his kitchen at the Historic Williams Hardware storefront. The business partners have grown Topsoil into a preferred spot for regulars with a popular chef-coursed Sunday Supper, ticketed plant-based dinners, and a Saturday bluegrass brunch. Cooke was a 2020 James Beard semi-finalist for Best Chef Southeast. Wine Director Lisa Simons brings deft expertise to pairings and is a joy to chat with about wine. An upcoming renovation will add a much-needed separate bar to the dining room as well as a walk-up bakery helmed by daytime sous chef Katie Chaney." - Stephanie Burnette
