"Long Beach is next up to receive its very own location of Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken, the Southern spicy chicken franchise that has elbowed its way into the Los Angeles market of late. Gus’s is a Memphis export, trading in a style of spicy chicken that differs from Nashville pretty dramatically in both finished product and overall heat levels. There are currently Gus’s locations on Crenshaw — the first in greater Los Angeles — as well as Burbank, and it’s drawing legions of fans for its fried bird, sides, and pies. Heck, even Jonathan Gold raves about the place. This new location in Long Beach lands inside a shopping plaza at 2580 Long Beach Boulevard, with room for 50 or so diners at a clip, plus takeout and catering. The team has already secured a license to serve beer and wine as well.
