"Opening next week at 4514 Cole Avenue on Wednesday, March 24, this Chicago export will be Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea’s first Texas outpost, joining eight locations nationwide including the Chicago original and shops in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Los Angeles. It's a destination for serious coffee nerds, offering a dazzling array of craft-roasted beans — a dozen different types from roasteries around the country (Chicago currently serves beans from Nashville’s Frothy Monkey and single-origin coffee from Sightglass in San Francisco, and in Dallas local roasters Ascension and Greater Goods will be available at the “brew bar”) — plus coffee flights that allow drinkers to choose three eight-ounce pours. In addition to coffee, the shop boasts a lengthy menu of kombuchas, juices, “elixirs,” and fancy teas, including the Rainforest Remedy (matcha with coconut milk and pineapple) and a butterfly pea flower milk tea mixed with jasmine simple syrup. A tight breakfast-and-lunch food menu will offer items from bacon‑egg‑and‑cheese sandwiches to a kale Caesar and classic grilled cheese with tomato soup. The Highland Park location will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., with online ordering via the mobile app as well as in-person counter service." - Amy McCarthy
