"A Korean fried chicken chain founded in 1995 in Korea, BB.Q Chicken will open an outpost at 1519 South Mason Road in Katy. Reports variously describe the brand as having hundreds of locations worldwide and also note it will join more than a thousand locations across the globe, including restaurants in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, Boston, and New York City. The chain is known for its crispy chicken fried in olive oil (which it says makes for a crisper, healthier product); after frying, the chicken can be served straight-up or tossed in spicy or honey-garlic sauce. The “BB.Q” in the name stands for “best of the best quality,” and the menu also includes Korean favorites like tteokbokki and budae jjigae as well as fusion dishes such as kimchi-spiked fried arancini balls and bulgogi-topped poutine. An exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed, though filings suggest a likely debut in late December or early next year." - Amy McCarthy
