"Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, an Ohio-born chain that’s cultivated a cult following for its creamy frozen confections, will expand to Houston. Construction permits filed with Harris County indicate that Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will take over the space at 275 West 19th Street in the Heights, currently occupied by Carter & Cooley Company Delicatessen. According to the Leader, Carter & Cooley is set to close its doors this weekend after 30 years in the neighborhood because owner Neil Sackheim is retiring." - Amy McCarthy
