"At 2358 Fillmore Street the Pac Heights outpost of Verve Wine, a trendy TriBeCa bottle shop led by master sommelier Dustin Wilson and wine merchant Derrick Mize, has opened as the company's West Coast foothold. I note the shop leans into small producers with 500 labels in-store and 3,000 labels online, supports a nationwide delivery program, and is positioned as a West Coast center of operations. The 1,200-square-foot space, formerly a shoe store, was designed by Richard Felix-Ashman of Handel Architects with floor-to-ceiling shelves, library-style ladders, and handmade metal-and-glass lanterns from Mexico hung by leather straps above a central marble table. Verve’s California operations also reflect long-standing SF ties: Wilson met sommelier Eric Railsback while working at RN74, Wilson previously served as wine director at Eleven Madison Park before moving into retail, and Railsback—now Verve’s director of operations for California—places bottles from his Santa Barbara County winery, Lieu Dit, on the shelves. Verve Wine is open Monday–Saturday 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m." - Caleb Pershan
