"A taste of Florence lands in Los Feliz with crusty, dimpled schiacciata baked fresh daily using the Florence recipe and sandwiches priced under $20. The opening menu offers 14 savory options plus a sweet Nutella schiacciata, with two oversized halves per order and gluten-free bread coming after the opening. Standouts include The Best — roast beef, mixed vegetables, cheese, and a spicy sauce on schiacciata, toasted until the cheese melts and the crust crisps — alongside the simple Delicato (smoked ham, brie, truffle cream), the Tuscan (salami, fontina, fresh tomatoes, pesto or garlic sauce), and Springtime (prosciutto, mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, lettuce, pesto or garlic sauce). Los Feliz exclusives show up too, like the Ganzo with prosciutto, creamy stracciatella, sundried tomatoes, and a caramelized onion spread; vegetarians get a Caprese, a Vegan with spinach, roasted eggplant, sundried tomatoes, onions, and hot sauce or garlic sauce, and the Lady D with spinach, stracciatella, roasted eggplant, sundried tomatoes, roasted bell peppers, and pesto or garlic sauce. To preserve flavor, 80 to 90 percent of ingredients are imported from Italy, and staff are trained on every detail, from press time to how many dried tomatoes dot the stracciatella. It’s the brand’s first U.S. outpost, set in the former Eastside Deli space, and holds daily hours from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m." - Rebecca Roland
