"On the former site of San Pedro's Ports O' Call, I'm watching the 42-acre West Harbor development (originally to be called San Pedro Public Market) take shape; it's on track to break ground next year and open in 2022, and will offer nearly 35,000 square feet of waterfront dining, a 6,200-seat amphitheater, a dockside area for incoming cruises and water taxis, and proximity to the marine research facility AltaSea. Developers have already lined up tenants — including a brand-new Gladstone's, concepts from Greg Morena and Robert Bell, and a planned brewery and beer garden — but the project has drawn critics in the local San Pedro community worried about displacement and required the removal of the longtime Ports O' Call restaurant in 2018 after 57 years." - Farley Elliott
