"Opening its first U.S. store on Thursday, September 21, a nearly three-decade-old Vietnamese brand is debuting a 1,300-square-foot Trung Nguyên Legend Cafe in the heart of Little Saigon at 9039 Bolsa Avenue #101 in Westminster. I note the shop will serve phin- and espresso-based coffee drinks made with 100-percent Vietnamese-grown Robusta and Arabica beans from Buôn Ma Thuột, offering espresso-based lattes, mochas and cappuccinos alongside Vietnamese specialties such as cà phê trứng (Vietnamese egg coffee) and cà phê chồn (civet coffee). The cafe will feature Trung Nguyên’s signature dine-in coffee service presented on ornate wooden trays, and unique menu items exclusive to this Little Saigon location include cold brew and iced Vietnamese egg coffee. Jennie Tang of H & L Wholesale Food Corporation says the goal is to “bring Vietnamese coffee culture to the U.S.,” emphasizing that coffee is about sitting down, enjoying each other’s company and building connections; the brand operates four factories and 110 stores in Vietnam, distributes to more than 60 countries, has exported to U.S. retailers for over 20 years, and currently has three stores in Shanghai. The Westminster shop will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m." - Cathy Chaplin
