"Located at 55 South Market Street in Charleston, I found the bright, cheerful eatery to feel like a little tropical vacation on Market Street, with yellow walls, purple velvet stools, lots of natural wood and rattan, a fun mural from local creative firm Sisal, and an outdoor patio shaded by white-fringed umbrellas that creates a beachy vibe. Executive chef Taylor Cunningham (formerly with the Ritz-Carlton Company) turns out plates such as red snapper ceviche, beef tartare, sea bass tacos, duck chaufa, Cubano sandwiches, tostones, ropa vieja, and more. General manager Maureen Samu oversees the bar selections, highlighting crushed-ice drinks like the Coco Piña made with rum, banana, creme de coco, pineapple, and lime juice. Gingerline is open for dinner daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday) and serves brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m." - Erin Perkins
