"Peas & Carrots Hospitality dropped more than $3 million this spring to buy the 8,000-square-foot Ferndale restaurant property and decided to keep the name of the 66-year-old Italian dining fixture that had closed permanently last year due to ongoing food safety violations; the group, owned by chef Zack Sklar, Jim Bellinson, and Josh Humphreys, plans a full renovation and will serve a similar-but-updated Italian-American menu with a focus on pizzas and craft beers, and will include a Traverse City Whiskey Co. tasting room offering classic whiskey cocktails and bottles of whiskey, with more information to be released closer to the spring 2019 opening." - Erin Perkins
