"A ceramics studio and showroom in the Cedars doubles as the site of Kiln to Table, an invite-only, monthly farm-to-table–inspired dinner series with extremely limited seating where guests eat from sculptural, family-style ceramicware that the artist also produces for local restaurants like Georgie, Beverly’s, and Jose. The space was built out of a warehouse and designed as a music-centric listening room with a long, skinny display table, Bose sound system, and a small bar area; chefs pick pieces from the collection to plate on, which reinforces the communal, homey vibe. With no full kitchen on site, visiting chefs adapt creatively—using induction burners, toaster ovens, sous vide rigs, flat irons, torches, and even rented generators or added electrical service—to stage intimate, high-caliber meals (ranging from roughly eight to thirty guests depending on room), featuring diverse cuisines from sushi to Chilean. The dinners began during a neighborhood open-studio event and grew organically as chefs who came to buy plates asked to cook there; sign-ups are typically by mailing list or occasional Instagram posts, and arriving diners are treated to a raw, behind-the-scenes atmosphere where they can see food being finished and appreciate the ceramics as part of the meal experience." - Courtney E.
