"I learned from a Washtenaw County Health Department alert that Chapala Mexican Restaurant was identified as a possible site of public COVID-19 exposure after a patron visited on Thursday, October 1; the county tied Chapala (along with the Brown Jug) to a total of 13 positive COVID-19 cases and advised anyone who visited on that date to self-monitor for symptoms and avoid others for 14 days after their visit. Chapala posted on Facebook applauding local officials’ diligence in identifying the business, and its operator called for a full contact-trace report covering all retail, restaurant, and public spaces visited by the diagnosed patients so potentially exposed people can fairly assess their risk. The advisory also noted that the restaurant is close to the University of Michigan campus and that many local cases have involved college-aged people." - Brenna Houck
